Stromstad, Sweden

Strömstad is a locality and the seat of Strömstad Municipality, Västra Götaland County, Sweden. It is known for its spa tourism, with original indoor bathing houses dating back to 1783. The current indoor spa was built in 1909 and the outdoor swimming baths opened in 2005.

Strömstad is also the gateway to the nearby Koster Islands and Kosterhavet marine national park. The Kostser islands are located 10km west of Stromstad and are comprised of an archipelago surrounding the two largest islands, South Koster and North Koster.

Bukten is Strömstads oldest remaining quarter. The buildings here are terraced houses by a cobbled street. Terraced housing was chosen because these were low buildings and offered views over the harbour and boats. They were built during the end of the 18th and the whole of the 19th century. Several of the houses are still permanent residences today.
