Ludwigsburg is a city in Germany, about 12 km north of Stuttgart's city center, near the river Neckar. It is the capital of the Ludwigsburg District and belongs to the Stuttgart Region.

The city of Ludwigsburg has many different faces. It's the county seat of local government, has a population of 85,000 in seven suburbs, 50 factories, 1200 craft-oriented and commercial companies and over 2000 wholesale and retail outlets. It's a university town, home to a teachers' training college, a polytech college and the only film academy in the state. But Ludwigsburg is also the city with the biggest and best-preserved baroque palace in all of Germany. It was the residence of the king of Württemberg and is called the cradle of Swabian poetry.
