Argens-Minervois

Argens-Minervois is a French commune in the Aude department in the Languedoc-Roussillon region of southern France.

The area and its inhabitants dates back to the 4th Century BC, its main feature being a medieval 14th Century Chateau (Castle). The area is sustained by viticulture/farming.

Argens-Minervois is located some 20 km west by south-west of Capestang and 6 km north of Lézignan-Corbières and is on the Aude River (Canal du Midi).

At the Church of Our Lady of the Assumption, tourists can see the ruins of the first church of Argens. It also houses remarkable works of Romanesque architecture, dating back to the 10th Century, where there remains a section of a wall decorated with arches and a big checkerboard. The Lake of Needles in the centre of the village is very scenic for walking, hiking, cycling or to enjoy a picnic.
Cruise passengers can enjoy dining in the alfresco atmosphere of the restaurants and coffee shops on the banks of the Canal du Midi.
