Lanta Yai Island (Ko Lanta Yai), Thailand

Ko Lanta Yai Island is one of several of the Ko Lanta Islands. Known as “Big Lanta Island”, it is popular with tourists seeking a more peaceful holiday than nearby Ko Phi Phi. Visitors to Ko Lanta will enjoy nine beautiful white sandy beaches, attractive scenery, coral reefs and abundant under water life.

Attractions on Ko Lanta include its tourist center Ban Saladan, where visitors will find transport, diving trips and shopping opportunities. The Khao Mai Kaew Caves are a popular alternative to the beach. The caves are located at the centre of the island and boast spectacular rocks and caverns, housing spectacular stalactites and stalagmites. Lanta Old Town is also worth a visit. The nearest train station to Ko Lanta is in Trang province just south of Krabi. From there, there are trains to and from Bangkok.
