Zamboango, Phillipines

Zamboanga is located in the Mindanao region of the Philippines. The city sits on the southernmost part of the Zamboanga peninsula and is closer to Malaysia and Indonesia than it is to Manila. It is one of the most important and busiest port cities in the Philippines.

Attractions in Zamboanga include Fort Pilar, a former Spanish garrison which now houses a museum with numerous paintings, ethnic costumes, marine life exhibits, indigenous tribes' memorabilia, and some artifacts from a sunken galleon. Pasonanca Park is also a popular attraction, boasting trees, flowers, shrubs, orchids, ferns, and a river. It also has three natural swimming pools (its water comes from the mountains), a flower garden, an aviary, and a butterfly farm.
