Algeciras is a port city in the south of Spain, and is the largest city on the Bay of Gibraltar. It is largely an industrial city that supports the large deep water container port and nearby oil refinery.

The oldest area of the city, with narrow, steep streets, is the district of San Isidro. Among the most interesting monuments is the church of Nuestra Señora de la Palma, from the 18th century, and the chapel of Nuestra Señora de Europa, from the 17th century.
