Le Somail is a hamlet in the Aude department of southwestern France. It is located along the Canal du Midi, fifteen minutes north west of Narbonne. In the 17th century, the town was the resting place for passengers on the mail barge operating between Toulouse and Agde.
Le Somail is a popular stop along the Canal du Midi. There is an historic bridge and a circular tower where ice was kept in the summer, an intimate chapel and a bookstore.
