Tilos, Greece

Tilos is a small Greek island and municipality located in the Aegean Sea. It is part of the Dodecanese group of islands, and lies midway between Kos and Rhodes. The capital of the island is called Megalo Horio, which is located 8 km’s from the port of Livadia. The island is not a major tourist destination, however visitors are attracted to its rugged natural beauty and laidback atmosphere.

Tourist attractions on Tilos include, the Monastery of Áyios Pandeleímon, the ancient city of Telos and Kharkhadió Cave, where excavations in 1971 unearthed Neolithic finds and bones of dwarf elephant. There is a small museum at Megalo Horio which displays these bones. There are also a number of popular beaches including the beach at Eristos, located 3 km’s from the capital.

Port Location – The main port of the island is called Livadia, which is located approximately 8km’s from the capital Megalo Horio. There is a public bus that runs between the port and the capital.
