Fort Amador, Panama

Fort Amador is located on Flamenco island, one of three islands in the entrance of the Panama Canal, Panama. Once an American military installation, Fort Amador was once at the heart of the US-controlled Canal Zone. The area is now a resort complex complete with marina, restaurants, bars and shops.

The causeway that leads out to three small islands, is a great vantage point for views of the canal, the Bridge of the Americas and Panama City. Not far are away are the impressive Miraflores Locks, a wonderful place from which to admire the scale of Ferdinand de Lesseps’ great achievement.
