Ithaca, Greece

Ithaca or Ithaka is an island in the Ionian Sea, in Greece. It is an independent municipality of the prefecture of Kefalonia, lying off the northeast coast of Kefalonia. The municipality of Ithaca includes some smaller islands as well. Its capital, Vathy, has one of the world's largest natural harbours.

Ithaki is a quiet unspoiled place, with scenic beaches, sleepy little villages, and many worthwhile places to visit in the town. It is also known as being Odysseus' homeland. Several archaeological sites associated with Homer's story are worth a visit, along with the archaeological museum, the remains of a Venetian castle at the entrance of the harbor, and the library which house some rare books.
