ASTOR is a stylish fully stabilised and air-conditioned cruise liner with capacity for 620 guests. She has seven passenger decks. Her wide range of public facilities include the very impressive Waldorf Restaurant offering a traditional two sitting fixed time dining option and, as an alternative more informal experience, the stylish Übersee Club Bistro.

There are five lounge areas - the theatre style ASTOR Lounge, for some truly sparkling entertainment from the highly acclaimed show-team; the elegant Captain’s Club, a perfect venue for pre-dinner cocktails with the resident pianist; the intimate Hanse Bar which leads onto the stylish Sonnen (Sun) Terrace Bar, with wonderful panoramic ocean views; and the Poolside Bar where the head barman will soon get to know your favourite drink.

Other facilities include the ship’s Library, the Card Room, an internet café, a shopping arcade featuring a boutique, jeweller, perfumery and the Wellness Centre, which offers hairdressing and beauty treatments, an indoor swimming pool, ocean view fitness and exercise equipment, and sauna and massage facilities. There is an outdoor swimming pool, two whirlpools and, in keeping with her heritage, a traditional walk around promenade deck. There is a very good selection of comfortable modern cabin accommodation from Standard to De Luxe with 70% of cabins having an ocean view with individually controlled air-conditioning. An outstanding feature of ASTOR is the sports deck where you can enjoy volleyball, half court tennis, table tennis, jogging track, big board chess, golf practice and yoga.

Cruise Overview:
Enjoy leisurely days at sea interrupted by wonderfully contrasting ports of call on Astor’s springtime voyage from Cape Town to the UK. Sail via Walvis Bay, your gateway to the Namibian Desert, before visiting the Atlantic islands of St Helena and Gran Canaria. Casablanca and Lisbon are the finale to this remarkable voyage.

Cape Town
The jewel of SouthAfrica’s coastline,CapeTown is a citywith the most recognisable profile. The backdrop of Table Mountain gives it its distinct and proud signature. With a day to explore, why not try the cable car trip upTable Mountain, gowine-tasting in nearby Paarl or Stellenbosch (world-class vintages guaranteed) or soak up some of the great botanical gardens.

Walvis Bay
Walvis Bay is the gateway to the spectacular lunar landscape of theNamibian desert and is also a birdwatchers paradise home to many colourful species of birds and literally thousands of flamingos. Once known asGerman South West Africa,Namibia reflects a wide range of influences during its earlier chequered history.

St Helena
This fascinating former 17th century British colony is accessible only by sea and is one of themost rugged and individual outposts on theworld cruise scene. It is easy to explore the quaint capital, Jamestown, on foot, while optional tours can showyou its extremes of countryside, fromwind-eroded desert tomountainous cliffs.

Located on the western coast of Africa, the cosmopolitan Casablanca is Morocco’s largest city with a thriving tourism trade.
Blending the modern world with the ancient, Casablanca can be accurately described as a cultural melting pot with clear African, Arabic and European influences. The city’s many parks, fountains and recognisably Art Deco flourishes are all courtesy of the French Protectorate who made the city their administrative centre in the early part of the 20th Century.
Highlights include the impressive Hassan Il Mosque, the ornate Mauresque architecture and gleaming white 1930’s buildings immortalised in the classic film starring Humphrey Bogart.

Lying on the Atlantic coast at the mouth of the River Tagus, Lisbon is the westernmost capital in Europe. It was from here that the great caravels set sail on their voyages of exploration and numerous monuments are a reminder Lisbon’s glorious maritime heyday. In 1775 a devastating earthquake all but levelled the city to the ground, and although relatively modern, the Portuguese capital has a quirky charm and much character. The steep, cobbled streets of the ancient Moorish Alfama district lead to wonderful viewpoints looking over the city. Further along the coast the elegant resorts of Cascais and Estoril stud Portugal’s own Riviera.
